The Grand Tour

Rumour has it that The Grand Tour might not see Season 4 and beyond. It is currently showing Season 2. The UK’s Daily Mail reported that the Jeremy Clarkson-headlined motoring show with a budget of up to R65 million an episode will end its run after Season 3, which is being shot as we speak.

No reasons are forthcoming for this rumour but from a media point of view, if the numbers are not coming in, broadcasters tend to kill it. In this case it would be Amazon, which created the show in 2015 after Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May left the BBC’s Top Gear, after it fired Clarkson. At the end of Season 2 of The Grand Tour it emerged that it was one of the most pirated shows on Earth, which would hurt Amazon because it makes money from streaming.
