The Mercedes-AMG 35 hatch has been spied flexing some of its muscles. Remember it’s the car that will take on the likes of Audi S3 and BMW M240i when it launches in Mzansi next year. Importantly it is the car that will fill up the rather large gap between the A 250 and the A 45. These new spy pictures give a bit more clarity on the car.

So we can assume the whole front end will be quite sporty, with possibly a Panamerica front grille. The lower part of the grille will also be different from the normal A-Class hatch cars. There should be some detailing on the sides, especially on the wheel arches, which are expected to be slightly wider than normal. It’s the rear end that excites the most though, because of those four exhaust tailpipes.

Under the bonnet we expect an upgraded version of the company performance 2.0-litre turbo engine. Speculation has it that it will deliver something around the 240kW mark. The other thing we are currently unsure about is whether it will run on the front or on all four wheels. Smart money is on four-wheel-drive we reckon.
