Porsche Taycan spy

Now we know that Porsche is working hard and developing its first-ever all-electric car which used to be called the Mission E, but is now called by its official name Taycan. The Porsche Taycan is expected to hit the streets in late 2019 in Europe, and possibly be available in Mzansi in 2020. Let’s delve into a few new details then.

Porsche Taycan spied testing.

Taycan we know, is a 4-door sports sedan/ coupe. It will carry at least four adults, like the Panamera and Cayenne. Being an all-electric car means it carries no petrol or diesel engine, but instead is powered by two electric motors – one front, the other rear – and high-voltage lithium-ion batteries. This makes it an all-wheel-drive. Maximum power will be more than 440kW according to Porsche, and it will be able to accelerate from 0 – 100km/h in less than 3.5 seconds. Simultaneously it will have a 500km range.

Plenty of road testing is currently being conducted in various parts of the world, including right here in Mzansi where Porsche brought in 21 units to the hot western part of the country. Over 40 000km were subsequently clocked by these cars in temperatures of around 40-degrees Celsius. An annual sales figure of 20 000 is envisaged by Porsche regarding the Taycan.
