Suzuki Motor South Africa has confirmed that the new updated Vitara will be arriving in this country sometime in early 2019. The mid-sized SUV will feature several redesigned pieces, including the front grille, front bumper and rear lights. It will also add new colours to increase choices for customers. As far as those go, we’ll know when it launches exactly which ones will be made available here.

Quite exciting are the new petrol engines to replace the ageing naturally aspirated 1.6-litre motor. The two new engines are a 1.0-litre turbo and a 1.4-litre turbo. The former delivers 81kW of power, while the 1.4-litre produces 103kW and 220Nm of torque. These are some good numbers and should work quite well at high altitude regions like Gauteng. Let’s hope Japan comes to the party and releases at least one of these to Mzansi.

Safety levels are enhanced through equipment like the Bling Spot Monitor, Traffic Sign Recognition, and Lane Departure Warning among others.
