NEW MZANSI-BOUND OPEL VIVARO SHOWN

One of the number of Opel vehicles set to be launched in Mzansi this year is the Vivaro, a large MPV / bus that returns to the country in an improved fashion. Such vehicles have not been doing well over the past few years, but have now turned the corner and become fashionable. Opel SA is planning on capitalising on this recent appetite.

At 4.95 metres long, the normal Vivaro is not short. And depending on the models Mzansi gets up to 9 seats, but ranges from 4. I don’t see us getting the 4-seat version. The wheelbase is 3.2m, which is not bad, while luggage capacity goes up to 4 500 litres. The rear seats can also be removed for extra space. Two other notable optional features are the movable table and the 230V charging plug. Very useful.

In keeping with the current technology era, Vivaro features several items that buyers look for in cars. These include an infotainment system with a 17.8cm screen that can connect through Apple Carplay or Android Auto, a reversing camera, lane-keep assist, drowsiness assist, and sat nav with live traffic updates (depending on the market).

NB: pictured here are the Vauxhall versions of the Vivaro. Vauxhall is the British version of Opel and their front grille is slightly different. Mzansi spec cars will have Opel badges.
