2019 Audi S8 spy 1

Audi is busy testing its latest flagship sedan, the Audi S8, at the famed Nürburgring’s Nordschleife. Manufacturers don’t just take any car on that track; only cars aimed at performance enthusiasts. That means Audi is positioning the new S8 higher than its predecessor, by ensuring it not only meets safety and luxury standards, but that it also blows off the competition when it comes to serious performance.

Beneath the surface, the spies reckon, lies the company’s 4.0-litre twin turbo V8 motor. According to speculation, it should yield around 400kW and over 800Nm of torque. Of course all that will be sent to all four wheels via the quattro all-wheel-drive (AWD) system and the 8-speed automatic gearbox. With these stats in mind, a 0 – 100km/h time of about 4 seconds should be possible.

Being the performance luxury sedan flagship and all means the S8 will carry most of the A8 range’s latest tech gadgets, including touch screen infotainment, individual climate control, live mapping satellite navigation, self-parking (and other semi-autonomous features), and much much more. But it will also add those rougher, sporty edges, like some carbon fibre and Alcantara bits.
