The Koenigsegg One:1 cannot be registered in one of the world’s most advanced economies, Germany. That’s because of the amount of power it produces. The One:1 is the world’s most powerful series production car at the moment, with 1 000kW and 1 371Nm of torque pulling it – no, hurling it forwards.

And that is the main beef. Computer car registration software in Germany only accommodates cars up to 999kW; there’s no room for four digits. So the first customer Koenigsegg One:1 arrived in Germany from Sweden where it’s made, and could not be entered into the system. The authorities are working on upgrading the entire computer system so as to get the car to its owner and on the autobahn where it belongs.

Made by the people who brought us things like CCX, CCX R and Agera, the One:1 is so-called because in old speak it pushes out 1 341hp (1 000kW or one megaWatt) and weighs just 1 341kg, which means it has a perfect 1hp:1kg power to weight ratio. Its engine is a 5.0-litre twin turbo V8 that enables it to rush from 0 – 400km/h in 20 seconds. Again, that’s 400km/h.
