Jaguar SVO XE SV Project8 Nurburgring record lap 1

Jaguar can now lay claim to a significant Nürburgring Nordschleife record. The new XE SV Project 8 – which is not coming to Mzansi unfortunately – is now officially the fastest 4-door car around that fabled racing track, with a time of 7 minutes and 21.23 seconds, according to Jaguar. It’s quite astounding actually, because it puts the car in the vicinity of illustrious born super cars like the Ferrari 488 GTB and the Porsche 911 Carrera GTS in the “cars that are street-legal” category.

“The SVO design and engineering team’s mission was to create the most track-focused road-legal Jaguar in history – not only the fastest, but also the most agile,” says Mark Stanton, SVO Director. “As a result, only the roof and front door skins of Project 8’s body are carried-over unaltered from XE and 75% of its mechanical hardware is new. This astonishing Nürburgring Nordschleife record validates the success of such extensive changes.”

A quick recap on the car’s powertrain specifications: Thanks to the company’s loyal 5.0-litre supercharged V8 petrol motor, the XE SV Project 8 is poised to make a hectic, segment-busting 441kW of raw thrust to make it the most powerful road Jaguar in the history of the brand.
