JAGUAR LAND ROVER CUTS 4 500 JOBS

Jaguar Land Rover will cut 4 500 jobs at its UK operations, according to a company spokesperson. This represents about 10% of its total workforce. A couple of reasons have caused this dire situation, which will affect mainly administration, marketing and management levels. The main is the fall in sales of most Jaguar-branded cars globally, but especially in China, the company’s main market.

China sales have fallen 21%, which is devastating enough for any manufacturer, let alone a small one like JLR. Reasons for this fall are not yet clear, but speculation is that Chinese customers are beginning to buy less conspicuously, and also that US/ China trade relations are affecting currency and taxation.
