The vehicle that BMW is so far calling the iNEXT, has been testing in Arjeplog, Sweden. Powered only be electric power, the full-electric iNEXT is an SUV about the same size as the X5, which is about 5 metres long. BMW says the iNEXT will begin series production in 2021 at the company’s German plant in Dingolfing. No word yet on whether it will be sold in Mzansi or not.

Winter testing of the iNEXT is extremely important because it tests the car under extremely cold conditions. Engineers drove it on ice and snow, under temperatures well below zero. With its all-wheel-drive system, the car was able to traverse these conditions, also looking at the drive, chassis and suspension system. Steering, braking, heating and cooling systems are also tested under these icy conditions, where some electronic components tend to freeze and not function according to expectations.
