The brand new BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe – a first for BMW – will be launched to the world market about a year or so following its world public debut at the 2019 Los Angeles Auto Show in November. As you might expect, IN4RIDE has already reported on this car, but this is the first time BMW has officially acknowledged it and even provides us with a teaser picture. The 2 Series GC will feature a compact body, four passenger entry doors, a coupe-like silhouette and a boot that opens like a hatch.

The car will feature a front-wheel-drive layout, giving a different driving character to the current rear-wheel-driven 2 Series Coupe. It will also lend it to a bigger interior and offer some powertrain options that were previously not feasible. BMW says “the four-door coupe addresses all target groups that prefer a sophisticated design and a self-assured look”. Much of the technology found in the new 3 Series will be in the 2 Series Coupe, including the new iDrive infotainment system. Expect powertrains to consist mainly of 1.0-litre, 1.5-litre, and 2.0-litre turbo engines, as well as a plug-in hybrid option.
