BMW has thrown us a few “spy” pictures of the upcoming new M8 Competition, the most powerful and quickest road-going BMW of all time. The M8 Competition will also be sold here in Mzansi within the next 12 months in Coupe form, while the M8 badge will also appear on the 4-door Gran Coupe and Convertible models.

Over the next few weeks we will be able to see a few M8 Competition pictures as well as be privy to some of its details. For now we will only rely on what we already know, which is that it is fitted with only two doors (Coupe), four seats, and has four M exhaust tailpipes. What is given by these pictures is a bit extra, and includes the iDrive screen which shows some details, one of which is the TRACK mode and a tank range of over 450km.

Power remains with the 4.4-litre twin turbo V8 engine that is expected to deliver over 460kW to all four wheels via the xDrive all-wheel-drive (AWD) system. The 0 – 100km/h time should be around 3 seconds, while a derestricted top speed of over 310km/h can be envisaged.
