2018 BMW M5 6

Word on the street is that BMW, which unveiled the badass all-new M5 sedan a few weeks ago, is already developing an even more badass version of the super executive sedan. The new car will launch here in Mzansi during the first quarter of 2018 at a price we estimate to be around R1.9 million. The “badass” version, to be called the Competition Package, will follow later on during the year.

Competition Package is nothing new to the BMW brand, especially to the M5. The previous-generation used a 4.4-litre twin turbo V8 to produce 441kW, which is the same amount of power as the all-new M5. Therefore we can expect the new M5 Competition Package to exceed this figure and probably hit or get close to 460kW, which would make it the most powerful car in its class. In addition it will probably feature several kit enhancements that may or may not include things like uprated brake callipers, some carbon fibre bits and a different interior look.
