Spy pictures of the new and upcoming Lexus LS (launching in 2018) have showed up on the interweb. The LS is of course Lexus’s flagship model and it competes in the same segment as the likes of Audi A8, BMW 7 Series and Mercedes-Benz S-Class. These latest pictures show the car is still some way off, what with all that heavy camo hiding most of the essential bits that could reveal its looks and all.

Thankfully we are able to see one or two things. The front LED headlights for instance, are slanted inwards, while the front “spindle” grille looks quite large. Side mirrors look similar to those of the LC 500 Coupe, while the rear end features a discreet boot spoiler, LED rear lights, and downward-facing exhaust tailpipes. The rear seating arrangement looks to feature three adult spaces, as evidenced by the three headrests.

The interior is expected to feature a lot of toned-down LC 500. We hope they have a new infotainment system that does not use the finicky “mouse” that Lexus seems to prefer. Powertrains will of course include V6 and V8 engines, as well as hybrids. Will there also be a hydrogen-powered model? That’s entirely possible, given Lexus and parent Toyota’s recent history.
