The Audi Q4 has reportedly received the green light from the board of management as well as the board of Volkswagen AG, according to reports emanating from Europe. The Q4 – expected to go on sale in Europe in 2019 – is supposed to be a coupe version of the Q3, but is said to be more than just this. At this point we are not sure how, suffice to say it may well be a 3-door instead of five.

Q4 would be pretty much the same size in terms of length, but differentiate itself through the slanting rear roofline, possibly a smaller rear window and slightly less rear headroom. All typical of the modern coupe SUV genre. It will compete directly against the likes of BMW X2 and Range Rover Evoque. Several engine options will be available to the Q4, including 1.0-litre, 1.4-litre, 1.8-litre and 2.0-litre TFSI, as well as a plug-in hybrid and a diesel. At the top end we can expect an SQ4 and an RS Q4, though only one of these would probably arrive in Mzansi.
