The Peugeot RCZ Coupe will not have a successor. That’s apparently the word from Peugeot CEO Maxime Picat during his conversation with Autocar. Picat admitted that while the RCZ is a fabulous car worth loving, there just isn’t a business case for it anymore at his newly-focused company.

We also really liked the two-seater RCZ when we drove it and thought it was a really cool sports car will all the attributes one could wish for in a car of its nature. But it appears not many people have been buying one. In fact, in Mzansi only two have been sold since January. And so it’s gone on to the list of about 13 Peugeot models whose lives will completely end by the year 2022. The company aims to stay afloat by culling slow-sellers and niche models, groups to which the RCZ belongs. So if you own one or were planning on going for it, now would probably be the best time for it.

To refresh your memory, the RCZ comes in two guises; a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic. The manual delivers a healthy 147kW, while the auto is restricted to 115kW from the same 1.6-litre turbo petrol. There used to be a diesel version as well but it didn’t last long. At some point the 199kW RCZ R was also being investigated for introduction into Mzansi.
