According to a leaked picture doing the rounds on the internet, Toyota has a few sporting plans to shake up the industry a bit over the few coming years. In recent times the company has begun clawing back its sporty side with cars like the 86, LC and Supra. Indications are it will continue on this path for some years to come.

Firstly the 86 is returning as a second-generation model. However, it appears the name will change to GR 86, after Toyota’s Gazoo Racing brand. Yes, it will be co-developed with Subaru who will produce a new BRZ. The GR 86 will use a new turbocharged engine to go on sale tentatively in 2021. The big Lexus LC will get a hi-performance LC F which could be seen as the spiritual successor to the LFA, and it will carry a twin turbo V8 engine.

On the not-so-sporty side of things, the all-new shape IS sedan is scheduled to arrive in 2021, riding on a new platform and sporting new turbo engines, as well as hybrids. We hope it resurrects the IS F badge as well. At the same time, a new NX and RX are on the cards for 2022, also with similar engines to the IS. A bad piece of news from this leak is that the GS sedan will be culled. It appears sales are not justifying its existence anymore, as more and more buyers opt for the SUV bunch.
