Kia South Africa is launching the new Seltos soon. The compact SUV will be offered to those who like high-riding positions that SUVs offer, while also promising exceptional value for money. There are also a couple of technical debuts that the car is making, which Kia fans will greatly appreciate. “Kia is well known for offering exceptional quality and comprehensive specification across its model ranges. The all-new Seltos delivers all of that, and more,” says Gary Scott, CEO, Kia Motors South Africa.

At 4.3 metres long, 1.8m wide and 1.6m high, the Seltos is just a shade smaller than the current Sportage, which will likely give potential buyers a few headaches when making their decision. That it’s also well-specced with standard items like LED daytime running lights, cruise control, a full colour touch screen and others make it a compelling proposition.

Seltos will be initially offered with two engines for Mzansi – a naturally aspirated 1.6-litre and a turbocharged 1.4-litre. The former produces 90kW of power and 151Nm of torque, which sounds adequate for a solid daily drive. It comes with either a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission, depending on the trim level. The 1.4-litre T-GDI produces 103kW and 242Nm, is paired to a 7-speed double clutch transmission and can sprint from 0 – 100km/h in 9.7 seconds according to Kia’s own figures.
