Porsche is launching the all-new Macan GTS, a car that will see some strong performance at a price lower than the Turbo model. The Macan GTS will not only give potent feedback to the right foot and both hands, it also looks very sporty without being hardcore, a familiar characteristic of the Porsche’s GTS cars. In other words, no more middle child blues. Mzansi pricing has not been announced yet but we speculate between R1.3 million and R1.4 million.

Power is sourced from a 2.9-litre V6 biturbo petrol engine that produces 280kW of power between 5 200rpm and 6 700rpm, as well as 520Nm of torque between 1 500rpm and 5 000rpm. Strong figures indeed. The transmission is a PDK automatic type. Porsche says with a Sport Chrono package installed the Macan GTS will accelerate from 0 – 100km/h in just 4.7 seconds, topping off at 261km/h.

Some of the car’s other technical highlights include satin-gloss 20-inch RS Spyder Design alloy wheels, a chassis that can lower itself by up to 15mm, ceramic composite brakes, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), LED headlights and red brake calipers among others.

The interior features plenty of Alcantara bits, including on the armrests, centre console, roof lining and others. BOSE has supplied the surround sound system.
