Porsche has announced a hi-performance version of its popular Macan, namely the new Macan Turbo. While the company is a sports car manufacturer in the first instance, this model takes that philosophy into the next level of performance for its baby SUV. Part of the new package is the 2.9-litre biturbo V6 engine.

Maximum power is a sweet 324kW, which is 29kW more than its predecessor, while torque is 550Nm made between 1 800rpm and 5 600rpm. Porsche has installed a 7-speed PDK to run power and torque to all four wheels and says acceleration will take 4.3 seconds starting from 0 – 100km/h. Top speed is 270km/h. Despite such scintillating performance, Porsche says the Macan Turbo will only consume on average, 9.8 litres per 100km of fuel.

Some of the visual upgrades taken up by Macan Turbo include new 20-inch alloy wheels, Porsche Surface Coated Brake (PSCB), Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB), Sport Design side skirts, colour-coded Sport Design side mirrors, standard LED headlights, a fixed roof spoiler, and four exhaust tailpipes.

Inside the picture is one of sportiness and style as well, with the 14-speaker BOSE Surround Sound system with 665 Watts competing against the growling engine sound, sports seats, Alcantara roof lining, a GT sports steering wheel from the 911, as well as a 27.7cm full HD screen for the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) infotainment system.
