Spy pictures have emerged that show the next-generation BMW M4 Convertible. The car is based on the new 3 Series range, but more specifically the 4 Series 2-door Coupe that will be making its appearance later this year. These pics – camouflaged as they are – reveal something different. BMW has gone back to the soft top.

With the extra weight added on by the hard roof, the company has seen it fit to do away with that solution and return to the less cumbersome solution of canvass. As for the M4 itself, we know it will carry an upgraded version of the 3.0-litre twin turbo engine that will kick out at between 350kW and 375kW. It will be paired to an xDrive all-wheel-drive system that helps it achieve a 0 – 100km/h time of around 4 seconds.
