Kia has released a couple of sketch pics of a new small SUV, which will be revealed fairly soon, probably in the next few months. The vehicle is said to be spacious – despite its compact size – as well as capable. Kia says the vehicle – currently without a name – will go on sale in South Korea sometime during this year, while the rest of the world will get it in 2020. Kia South Africa is also studying a business case for it.

The smallest SUV in the Kia lineup is currently the Sportage, which is mid-sized by most accounts, including price. This new baby will be smaller, the size of cousin Hyundai Kona. In fact, it will share some components with said Kona. Byung Chul Juh, Head of KIA Styling at KIA Motors Corporation, comments: “We have created a car which stands out everywhere, from the city to the countryside. Its robust yet sporty design will be matched by a wide range of features and technologies that are universally suited to younger buyers in markets around the world. Our new small SUV is a proposition that no other car in its class will match.”
