A picture of a full-production double cab bakkie (pickup) has shown up on the interweb. The vehicle was spotted in Australia by Wheels magazine and has gotten car fans talking. Unfortunately, although you can see the front end, the front badge has been blocked off. However, from what we can see, this is a Ford. Is the brand new Ford Ranger then? We believe so.

We know that Ford in Mzansi has invested heavily into its Silverton manufacturing plant in Pretoria in preparation for the next-generation Ranger, which will begin manufacturing later this year. Most interesting is how revolutionary the front grille design is, compared to the current Ranger. It takes after the big Super Duty “trucks” from the U.S. and will ensure intimidation on the road. There rear end is pretty basic, with no major highlights. Engines are likely to be updated into the new range, including the 2.0-litre Ecoboost biTurbo diesel motor with over 150kW of power.
