NOT A MILLION YET FOR NEW MERCEDES-BENZ V6 X350D

Mercedes-Benz South Africa has revealed pricing for the mighty X-Class V6 X350d. The V6-powered turbo diesel – the most potent production bakkie in the country – looks like it will touch the magical R1 million when a few options are dealership-associated fees are added. But as a standard vehicle it is not there. Not yet anyway. Whether it is actually worth that much for what you get, is for the market to decide.

Joining the existing X220d and X250d, the new X350d was first unveiled at the Festival of Motoring last month. The two trim levels, Progressive and Power, are driven by the same engine, namely a 3.0-litre turbo diesel with 190kW of power and a mammoth 550Nm of pulling torque. Both these are driven by the company 4Matic 4×4 system and a 7-speed automatic gearbox with shift paddles behind the multifunction steering wheel.

“The much-anticipated Mercedes-Benz X-Class is well-positioned to elevate the South African double cab segment even further. It will do this not only by offering a dynamic design paired with luxurious interior and unparalleled performance, but also by being perfectly-priced,” said Nadia Trimmel, Head of Mercedes-Benz Vans Southern Africa.
