The Opel brand – which is now owned by the PSA Groupe alongside Peugeot and Citroen – is being rationalised en masse. What that means is that several products in the Opel stable will be axed or are already in the process. The Zafira MPV for example, which was not available in the current generation in Mzansi, is gone. Shockingly the ADAM, a popular premium small hatch, is also on the list to go from 2019.

In fact, the ADAM Rocks, a crossover version of the little ADAM, has already been cut off the production line. There will be no more units produced. The Astra will not escape either, as the Astra GTC will not make a comeback. This is a fairly obvious call because 3-door hatchbacks are no longer popular. Even two of Opel’s European competitors have stopped producing 3-door versions of their hot hatches.

On the other hand, brand new versions of the Mokka X, Corsa and Vivaro have been confirmed to appear by the end of 2020. They will be sold alongside models like the Grandland X.
