The Lotus brand, now owned by Chinese automotive company Geely, has appointed a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Phil Popham is the new CEO of Lotus Sports cars and he will report to Group Lotus CEO Feng Qingfeng. He was procured from luxury yatch builder Sunseeker, but had previously worked as Managing Director at Jaguar Land Rover. He replaces Jean-Marc Gales who left the company in June.

You will recall that Geely finalised its acquisition of Proton and by extension Lotus Sports cars in 2017. To be frank, during the times of Proton there was hardly any tangible evidence of activity at Lotus, which would manifest through the development and market introduction of brand new sports cars. Hopefully under Geely and Popham, the much-anticipated Lotus SUV and other products will finally go on sale.
