2018 Mercedes-Benz A-Class with Dieter Zetsche 1

The next-generation Mercedes-Benz A-Class hatch is almost ready for public consumption. In fact it looks like the brand’s entry-level hatch will arrive for the public to touch and feel at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. However, we are certain to receive and publish its details before then, so stay in touch. Meanwhile, company CEO Dieter Zetsche took some pics and selfies with the car in its current disguised form.

The A-Class will be the first model to try out its maker’s new “Sensual Purity” design language, which has done away with the sharp convex and concave shapes that were inspired by former BMW designer Chris Bangle. Instead the lines are being reduced, rounded off and made sexy, basically.

With the A-Class some new engines will be made available, including a petrol and diesel, as well as a plug-in hybrid model. As far as the hi-performance A 45, we know the 2.0-litre turbo is being thrown away, and we suspect the new 3.0-litre turbo will replace it and make over 300kW of power.
