Toyota South Africa is also getting into the groove of things as far as the 2013 Johannesburg International Motor Show (JIMS) is concerned. The company has revealed a few of the cars it plans to exhibit at the show next month, but refuses to divulge the names of some surprises.
What we’ve been given, according to the company’s GM of Marketing Communications Kerry Roodt, is a short list of familiar names, some of which have been on our roads for quite some time already. Included here are the likes of 86 Coupe, Aygo, FJ Cruiser and RAV4. Fortunately we’ll also see the FT-86 Open Concept, which previews the upcoming 86 drop-top. That’s new. Well, kind of.
Toyota’s racing prowess will be on full display thanks mainly to the TS030 Hybrid that came in second at the 2013 Le Mans 24 Hour Race a few months ago. The other main attraction on the fast stand will be the Imperial Racing Hilux, our best hope for a Dakar win, and the small Racing Yaris.
Lexus will of course be present too. The LFA, also seen at the 2011 JIMS, will be the main draw card. The new IS and GS range are also making their debuts. We are promised a new Lexus model revelation too, but of course details are secret.
